The Story of Oriel Marine Extracts
Established in 2013 to develop technology that would deliver on an environmentally approved, sustainable, and energy efficient means of extracting the powerful minerals and nutrients present in deep sea water, the company has significantly enhanced visibility of its patented ingredient Hydrasphere™ and built its business as a result.
Located in County Louth, Ireland, Oriel sources this unique ingredient from EU Protected pristine deep ocean waters. Oriel Marine Extracts made its debut as an exhibitor at in-cosmetics Global in 2023, marking a pivotal moment in its journey. After attending the event as a visitor for three consecutive years, the company decided that to really grow and expand further into the cosmetics and personal care sector, it needed to have a full presence at the exhibition.
Oriel Marine Extract’s Aims
At the outset its aims were simple: to introduce the business to the industry and highlight its innovative, patented ingredient Hydrasphere™ showcasing its applications across skincare, cosmetics, haircare, and nutraceuticals. Oriel was also keen to present its recently published clinical research on the unique Free Ion form of deep sea liquid Magnesium, Minerals, and Trace Elements and highlight its certifications, particularly its achievement of Protected Status from the EU Commission, as well as Sustainable, Organic, and GFSI (ISO 22001) accreditations.
The in-cosmetics effect
Since its debut in 2023, Oriel has not only met but exceeded its initial objectives. The platform provided by in-cosmetics Global allowed the company to develop and enhance its credibility and visibility in the global market by reaching a huge audience of buyers and formulators. This was particularly evident in Europe, where the event marks a significant date in the industry calendar. At the same time, it enabled the business to strengthen its relationships with existing clients while forging new connections.
Exhibiting at in-cosmetics Global has also significantly influenced Oriel’s business trajectory. In the past 18 months, it has secured a number of new distributors, developing partnerships in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, the UK, Canada, and the USA. It has also massively expanded its client database, establishing new client relationships in Europe as well as Scandinavia, South America, and Asia.
When it comes to new business leads, on average, Oriel was able to generate 60-80 new leads per in-cosmetics Global event (2023 and 2024), many of which have progressed into client relationships or remain in active discussions at the time of writing.
With limited marketing resources, Oriel believes its investment in in-cosmetics Global has been a crucial factor in promoting Hydrasphere™ and its associated clinical benefits, as Brian Fitzpatrick, CEO & Co-Founder, explains: “in-cosmetics Global has been an essential part of our success over the past few years and we have been delighted with the results it has yielded for the business. Prior to exhibiting, we were struggling to communicate the uniqueness and versatility of our latest innovation, Hydrasphere™, within a crowded marketplace.
However, our recognition as a finalist in the Estee Lauder BRKTHRU Voices Award at in-cosmetics Global in 2024 amplified our visibility, allowing our message to resonate more powerfully within the industry. We are looking forward to maintaining this upward trajectory as we go into 2025 by leveraging existing distributor relationships and further expanding brand visibility.
Oriel aims to achieve these ambitions by attending in-cosmetics Global once again with a larger stand to highlight its latest innovations as well as presenting new scientific research. This includes a clinical human volunteer study which will demonstrate the benefits to skin health across aging, inflammaging, and epigenetics as well as research demonstrating rapid absorption effects using Raman Spectroscopy. It hopes its amplified presence at the event will help propel its brand even further into the spotlight.
Oriel’s leading innovation, Hydrasphere™ has been granted 27 patents across 29 countries. Since its first participation at in-cosmetics Global in 2023, the company is now keen to build on this further, working closely with clients, distributors and research partners to create exciting new opportunities and product innovations.
By exhibiting at in-cosmetics Global, Oriel Marine Extracts has not only launched its brand into the spotlight but has also fostered significant growth and collaboration opportunities within the cosmetics industry. The company’s continued commitment to innovation and partnership positions them for a bright future at subsequent events.
