Reed Exhibitions announces 5 Point Safety Plan

Updated 20th January 2021

The Reed Exhibitions 5-Point Safety plan sets out to reduce the assessed risks of Covid-19 by complementing and building on safeguarding measures already in place outside of the trade exhibition and event setting.

This is the Second Edition of Reed Exhibitions’ Global COVID-19 ‘Safety Shows’ Health & Safety strategy and represents a refresh, keeping pace with the evolving pandemic; emerging research; changes in thinking and practice etc. as the industry gradually adapts and reopens for business. We’ve seen the trade exhibitions and events industry react as best it could as restrictions on gatherings (of any size) and on domestic and international travel rolled-out across the world. Global state-imposed closures have though allowed us time to take stock and reset ready for reopening.

Fira de Barcelona receives the Safe Travels stamp for its protocol against COVID-19

Updated 13th January 2021

The prevention and safety protocol against COVID-19 developed by Fira de Barcelona for its venues and events has merited the “Safe Travels” global stamp from the World Travel Tourism Council (WTTC). The set of measures implemented by the trade fair institution has been developed in collaboration with the Risk management specialized consultancy Aon and the advice of the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona.

The “Safe Travels” is the first global seal on safety and hygiene for travel and tourism, specifically designed for COVID-19 and similar epidemics. The seal allows travelers and companies in the travel and tourism sector to identify those destinations and institutions around the world that have implemented health and hygiene protocols aligned with the WTTC’s “Safe Travels” criteria, endorsed, at their time, by the World Health Organization (WHO).

In this way, the institution obtains this distinction for its protocol of security measures and prevention against COVID-19 with the aim of holding its events with the maximum guarantees for workers, organizers, exhibitors and visitors. The fair institution plans to resume face-to-face activity in 2021, especially starting next spring with the holding of important professional and international events at the Montjuïc and Gran Via venues.

About the WTTC

The World Travel and Tourism Council is a forum for the tourism industry made up of members from the global business community and works with governments to raise awareness of Travel and Tourism’s value, not just as one of the world’s largest economic sectors, but also to the many communities and travelers enriched through their experiences. Its scope of action includes the investigation of the economic and social impact, as well as the organization of global and regional meetings focused on the development of this industry. In Barcelona, the WTTC operates through its local partner, Turisme de Barcelona, who is responsible of managing the “Safe Travels” stamp.

A statement from Reed Exhibitions Limited – organisers of the in-cosmetics events:

Updated 5th November

Reed Exhibitions Ltd, the organiser of the leading global event for the personal care industry, has announced today the new dates for the 2021 event and in-cosmetics Global will now take place in Fira Barcelona, on the 5-7 October 2021, moving from the original April dates.

This early announcement will hopefully allow time for the impact of COVID-19 across the world to stabilise and when safe to do so, ensure that the event can continue its critical role in bringing the global industry together again.

Speaking about the announcement, Roziani Zulkifli, Exhibition Director at Reed Exhibitions, said: “After consulting with exhibitors and key stake-holders, we recognise that in order to hold an international event there needs to be more time to allow for the reopening of borders and lifting of travel restrictions. It is clear that the industry needs to meet in person later in 2021.  Large-scale events are subject to ever-changing national and local guidelines and regulations. Our priority is to deliver an engaging and COVID-secure face-to-face event with combined virtual solutions in October as we are able, one that gives our exhibitors and visitors the additional time to adapt and continue on the path to recovery.

Now, more than ever, there is a strong need to reunite, connect and do business. The importance of in-cosmetics Global cannot be underestimated as the largest global event that brings together cosmetic manufacturers and suppliers of ingredients. in-cosmetics Global has been running for the last 30 years and there is an excitement that surrounds live exhibitions.  Nothing can fully replace face-to-face meetings, whilst seeing and experiencing new cosmetic ingredients. We are confident that this decision best supports the industry, and in October we will be ready to regroup and look ahead to the future.

Even though we have been unable to hold the live exhibition in 2020, it has been exciting to step into the digital world. We held five virtual events over the past seven months and the virtual in-cosmetics Formulation Summit coming up on the 17-19 November 2020 that will focus on formulation in the climate change age and we will not be stopping there! Our current priority is on keeping the industry connected during this time, fostering collaboration, promoting new innovative solutions and helping to nurture critical business contacts, so watch this space for a virtual experience coming next April.

Once again, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our exhibitors, visitors and partners for their support. We believe this extra time ahead of the 2021 event will offer exhibitors reassurance and more opportunity to prepare their fantastic showcases for our visitors to continue in their personal care creations.”

in-cosmetics Global, Latin America and North America 2020 postponed. in-cosmetics Asia 2020 going ahead

Updated 1st July

Over the last few months, we have been closely monitoring the development of COVID-19 and evaluating each in-cosmetics event individually, based on their specific circumstances. Having considered all options, and in an effort to give the personal care community we serve as much notice as possible, we have reached the following decisions:

in-cosmetics Global and Latin America postponed, in-cosmetics North America cancelled

Over 80% of in-cosmetics Global attendees are international from countries at different stages of the global pandemic and with varying government advice and travel restrictions. We have therefore decided to postpone in-cosmetics Global 2020 to 13-15 April 2021. To ensure minimum logistical impact for all participants, we will hold the event in Barcelona (same hall/venue), and not in Milan, as originally scheduled for 2021.

With COVID-19 pandemic worsening across the Americas, we do not consider it safe at this stage to organise a face-to-face exhibition. We are therefore postponing in-cosmetics Latin America to 22-23 September 2021(same hall/venue) and cancelling our North American event for 2020.

in-cosmetics Asia 2020 going ahead

With the improving COVID-19 situation in Asia, business recovery in the region and the ongoing discussions to re-open borders for business travel, as it stands we do not plan to postpone or cancel the event in Asia. in-cosmetics Asia will therefore take place on the original dates of 3-5 November at BITEC Bangkok, Thailand. We will implement health and safety measures recommended by WHO and local authorities with your well-being remaining at the heart of our decision-making. Our team will continue to explore various models to facilitate face-to-face meetings and reach out to the wider audience digitally.

in-cosmetics Virtual launching soon...

We appreciate how important it is for the industry to stay connected during this time. Following the launch of in-cosmetics Connect earlier this month, in-cosmetics Virtual will take place in October 2020. The focus will be on helping worldwide suppliers connect with personal care creators from Europe and the Americas.

Reed Exhibitions announces that in-cosmetics Global 2020 has been postponed until 6-8 October 2020

Updated 8th April

Following the steep escalation of COVID-19 across Europe, and in particular Spain, in-cosmetics Global will now take place from 6-8 October 2020 at Fira Barcelona, Spain.

The situation surrounding COVID-19 is constantly changing. The health and safety of our exhibitors, visitors and staff is our number one priority and we will remain guided by the expert advice of the public health authorities. We understand that the global pandemic is having planning and financial implications for the industry. We have therefore proactively taken this decision well in advance of the current June dates to allow exhibitors and visitors more time to prepare and gain maximum value for the event when it happens.

It has been a difficult few months globally, but it has been inspiring to see the resilience of the industry, and how companies have been adapting to the situation, in some cases repurposing their factories to support public health authorities with the production of much needed healthcare products. As event organisers, we are proud to serve such an innovative and caring industry, and we can’t wait to get the global personal care and beauty community together once again in Barcelona in October. We want everyone to enjoy attending in-cosmetics Global as they have done so in the past.

in-cosmetics Global will not undergo substantial changes and will take place in the same Hall. The content programme that has been communicated over the past months will still stand with minimal changes.

Reed Exhibitions announces that in-cosmetics Global 2020 has been postponed until 30th June.

Updated 5th March

After many weeks of monitoring the evolving situation around COVID-19 we have decided to postpone in-cosmetics Global 2020 due to take place at Fira Barcelona Gran Via from 31 March – 2 April to the new dates of 30 June – 2 July 2020.

This decision has been difficult because of the major importance of the event to the personal care industry. We heard from many of you about your concerns and the travel restrictions that have been put in place in some countries and decided that postponement is the best course of action to still deliver a high-quality business event.

in-cosmetics Global will not undergo substantial changes and will take place in the same Hall with the same floorplan. The content programme that has been communicated over the past months will still stand with minimal changes.

We’re excited that we can deliver in-cosmetics Global 2020 and celebrate the 30th anniversary (albeit a bit later than planned!), and we look forward to welcoming you to the show.

We really value the support of everyone involved in the event.
