Moisturisation from personal care products is an extremely desirable benefit. However, providing significant moisturisation from rinse-off products has been a difficult challenge. Glycerin is a “gold standard” humectant, but moisturisation in rinse-off applications is rarely achieved due to glycerin’s water solubility.

This talk will present a novel ingredient which is structurally similar to glycerin with the added benefit of being cationic and therefore highly substantive to skin and hair. Efficacy will be demonstrated via a variety of methods, both in-vitro and in-vivo, in leave on and rinse-off applications. Improved efficacy will be demonstrated compared to glycerin and other glycerin-replacement technologies.
