The oriental fungus Ganoderma lucidum (GL, traditionally called “mushroom of immortality”) is a precious source of actives for manifold cosmetic applications. Among these, ganoderic acids (5α-reductase inhibitors) represents the structures with greater interest.

The aim of this work was the evaluation of GL potentialities in the innovative trichological product GANOTHER®, focusing on two claims: stimulation of protein synthesis in human hair dermal papilla fibroblasts and inhibition of 5α –reductase to support the androgenic alopecia. The results of the performed activity tests (MTT, DHT, SPST, antioxidant and antinflammatory) show the real efficacy of GANOTHER® in promoting the follicles and hair health.
