Driven by modern lifestyle and the eclectic evolution of new technologies, consumers are aware of the potential damages induced by environmental stresses and are looking increasingly for products that improve skin’s own defense mechanisms.

Working in close collaboration with the probiotics specialist Probi, Sweden, Symrise has developed a specific Lactobacillus strain for topical applications. Thanks to a mild heat-treatment to prohibit vitality while maintaining the bacterial structures the product shows probiotic-like benefits: barrier strengthening, skin soothing, modulation of the cross-talk between skin cells and microbiota.

The product was proven clinically to significantly reduce TEWL versus placebo within a week.
