Building on white biotechnology to offer a highly sustainable (-)-a-bisabolol

Sustainability and naturalness indexes become critical parameters in the selection of ingredients by beauty brands. Still, some ingredients with low sustainability are used for their well-known benefits. As an example, the worldwide production of bisabolol was relying on chemical synthesis, or intensive plant/tree extraction; both of them having negative environmental impacts.

An innovative fermentation process, only using widely available plant sugars, has been developed to produce the first pure biotech. (-)-a-bisabolol called BisaboLife™, offering a highly natural and sustainable sourcing alternative. This talk will highlight the sustainability strategy which enabled this innovation and the associated benefits for the beauty industry.
