The development of sunscreens is often more challenging than developing other skin care products and needs a lot of experience in formulating and market knowledge. Various requirements have to be considered and a comprehensive knowledge in chemical, galenic, methodological, measurement, regulatory and patent fields is essential.

Preservation has played a minor role in the past. Due to public discussion, regulatory changes and a trend towards using modern, non-traditional preservative systems, preservation needs to be considered at the very beginning of the development of  a product. Schülke has performed comprehensive challenge testing and will show possibilities in antimicrobial stabilization.
