The skin is the largest and the most exposed organ. It is responsible for providing the first barrier to the external environment (sun radiation, urban pollution, weather, chemical, etc). Additionally, it harbors several hundreds of resident microorganisms.

Recent studies suggest a strong connection between a balanced microbiome and healthy skin. There is a real opportunity to explore how microbes are involved in a healthy skin barrier and how active ingredients affect them. For a long time, we have used antibiotics trying to kill the pathogenic bacteria and the beneficial bacterial (collateral effect).
