Ada Ooi

Job TitleFounder & Expert Facialist

Company Name001 Skincare London

International Facialist & Acupuncturist to the stars and royalty, beauty expert, Ada Ooi combines over 15 years of skincare experience gained across continents, and has adeptly mastered the principal tricks and tips from the Asian and Western industries for achieving impeccable skin.

Growing up in Hong Kong with centuries of culture, Ada absorbed skincare rituals learnt from Japanese, Korean, Western cultures and most dearly of all, from her grandfather who owned a pharmacy treating people with Chinese and Western medicines. Ada was fascinated by how traditional Chinese medicine and modern western medicine have worked synergistically over the generations to help people in need.

Ada sought to develop her beauty skills from an early age, graduating in chemistry and anatomy, aromatherapy and multiple beauty therapy courses across Asia, where advanced years of studies are commonplace, before becoming a fully trained and practising aromatherapist and beauty therapist 15 years ago.

In 2008 Ada moved to London where
she continued to perform her bespoke hybrid facials; a unique incorporation of modern and traditional techniques originating from the west and the east, including lymphatic drainage, acupressure and Holographic Meridian Scraping Therapy. Witnessing the same client imbalanced skin conditions in London as in Hong Kong, the result of our imbalanced, busy modern lifestyles, Ada transitioned to using custom-made blends in her facials, combining natural ingredients from aromatherapy and Asian remedies.

The combination of practical insight as a facialist, and her background growing up in a 'melting pot' of Asian and Western cultures compelled Ada to create a skincare line to help the time-poor (including herself) balance their skin. “The excesses to which we expose ourselves daily - high pollution levels, work lives filled with psychological stress, overly processed foods, all require a counterbalance.”

Launched in early 2014, 001 products are formulated at the equiHybrid™ lab in London.  Working with a team of experienced botanists and bio-chemists, the highest quality and efficacy-proven actives were sourced from all around the world. Using both natural and lab-derived ingredients, the powerhouse formulas provide resilience to the natural ageing process while counteracting environmental imbalances and future-proofing our skin at a cellular level.

001 Skincare London is a superlative British natural skincare line, combining modern biochemistry and traditional natural apothecary principles taken from the West and the East, a dose of London heritage and cosmopolitan energy, creating a performance driven formula designed to "return skin to its state of natural equilibrium”.

001 Skincare continues to receive great acclaim; beloved by celebrities, skincare and make-up artists worldwide (Lisa Eldridge, Patti Dubroff) and hailed by beauty editors including; Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Telegraph and Sunday Times Style. With multiple beauty awards under its belt, 001 has succeeded in cementing a reputation for highly covetable products that work.

In late 2015, 001 Skincare became the first company to unveil a trailblazing new device exclusively for the eyes.  Eyecicle™ is the world’s first cooling eye gadget designed to de-puff, tighten, smooth and brighten the eye area.

As well as the brands online store, 001 currently resides in prestigious London department store, Fortnum and Mason. The brand is forging its international presence opening in influential stores in a number of countries including Shen Beauty in New York and Stefano Saccani in Italy.

In late 2018, the second innovative ice-based facial gadget launches, alongside a next-generation serum.  Already a sell-out in its first 8 weeks, CRYOpress captures the growing demand for facial rollers, whilst presenting a pioneering, unique cooling product to the market for the first time.
