Isotretinoin, also known as 13-cis-retinoic acid is a medication primarily used to treat skin trouble, like severe acne, even though it has severe cytotoxicity. Moreover, its oil soluble physical property limits to oral use, but not topical.

Here, we conjugated hepta-peptide to Isotretinoin which new chemical entity showed strong water solubility and much stronger anti-inflammatory activity compared to isotretinoin.

Isotretinoin-conjugated peptide showed stronger down regulation of pro-inflammatory cytokines, IFN-γ, IL-1β, IL-6, IL17A and TNF-α, than isotretinoin, which implied potential use of the new compound in topical acne products in cosmetic.
