New purified Quillaja saponins, originally used as skin-safe foam regulators are revealing important properties as active principles for scalp and skin equilibrium. Modern clinical studies confirm the active role of Quillaja saponins in the regulation of sebum distribution over the scalp. Due to their substantivity to the skin and scalp surface, Quillaja saponins perform a long lasting re-equilibration action, which has been proved and found statistically significant. In the case of acne-prone skin, the saponins decrease significantly the number and intensity of inflammatory lesions and contribute to skin normalization. Quillaja saponins are extracted with sustainable process from renewable sources.
