The use of heat styling tools has gained popularity among women to create the hairstyles they want. Typically, heat styling tools operate at a range of temperature between 140°C and 200°C, which can lead to hair damage.

Dow Personal Care has developed different solutions for improved thermal protection of hair. The first approach resides on the use of a patented polyolefin technology delivering thermal protection through leave-on hair treatments with improved manageability and conditioning benefits. The second approach uses a unique dual phase styling resin which protects hair from thermal damage through the creation of a continuous layer film.

The presentation will detail how these new approaches deliver thermal protection of hair as documented by observations made under a Scanning Electron Microscope as well as excellent feel as demonstrated by results from panel testing versus commercial benchmarks.

In summary, formulators will have two new approaches to bring consumers differentiated hair treatments products delivering thermal protection.
