Barcelona prepares to welcome the world’s cosmetic industry
in April 2012 in-cosmetics, Gran Via exhibition centre, Barcelona, April 17-19
Barcelona, one of Europe’s most beautiful cities and the heart of Spain’s €7.8 billion Spanish cosmetic market [1] will play host to in-cosmetics this Spring, when the largest personal care ingredients event takes place at the city’s Gran Via exhibition centre on April 17-19.
The opportunities for companies to do business will be as plentiful as ever, with over 500 world class suppliers of new and innovative cosmetic ingredients and services already signed up to attend the event three months before the show begins.
Industry heavyweights such as Croda, DSM, Lubrizol and Merck will once again have a presence alongside over 50 first time exhibitors from all over the world, originating from countries as diverse as Bulgaria, China, Korea and Switzerland.
‘Solar Beauty’ has been chosen as the theme of the in-focus feature for 2012 and will have a larger role to pay than ever before. Echoed through the entire event, the theme will navigate visitors through the complex solar beauty maze.
A full-scale innovation platform has been designed to help industry players evaluate the latest developments and anticipate future trends. It will include a programme with a dedicated Scientific Seminar on sun protection and panel discussions on consumer education and nanoparticles. A special man-made beach area, designed to trigger new ideas whilst providing an original setting for networking opportunities, will form the centre piece of in-focus this year. A beachside photo gallery will illustrate the evolution of sun care advertising over the last sixty years. Also present will be a skin clinic, highlighting the damage that exposure to the sun can cause, as well as an interactive video on nano technologies and exclusive insight into how to innovate using social networks. A dedicated ‘solar trail’ will clearly highlight the exhibitors with solar beauty projects on their stands, as visitors make their way around the show.
in-cosmetics Group Marketing Manager, Cathy Laporte, commented: “Last year’s show in Milan was packed with professionals looking to source the newest products and latest developments from the world’s cosmetic and personal care industry and all the early indicators are that the 2012 exhibition will be even more impressive. We have already booked 11,600m2 of floor space – the largest area ever for the event – meaning that the 2012 show will exceed even the record breaking 2011 show in Milan. The educational programme features are also the most diverse yet and this year’s in focus theme of solar beauty will provide an exciting addition to the event, tying in perfectly with the setting of Barcelona.”
