Honeywell's Asensa NFF 11 A New Biopolymer Film-Former for Personal Care Applications

    White Paper / Research Paper

Film-forming agents are very common ingredients in personal care products where they are used in hair styling, skin care, and color cosmetics. A continuing trend in personal care products, indeed in many other markets as well, is the sustainability of the sources of those ingredients used. Asensa® NFF 11 is a corn starch based film-former that has been shown to work well in hair styling gels and lotions.

    Honeywell Asensa Wax Gelling Agents

    White Paper / Research Paper

The formulator often gels a product to give it a luxuriant feel, to prevent ingredients from settling, or to minimize splashing. Many techniques are available for gelling water-based products, but the options for oil-based systems are limited. One of the simplest methods is to use polyethylene homopolymer or copolymer waxes as a gelling agent.

    Honeywell Asensa SC Exfoliation

    White Paper / Research Paper

Exfoliating beads have a long history in cosmetics, but we are unaware of previous studies on the effect of their regular use. A clinical study with 10 subjects shows that regular exfoliation leads to a reduction in the cell turnover time of the stratum corneum (SC) by about 15 % (significant at the 95 % level). Standard models of skin function interpret increased cell turnover time as increased desquamation. promotes addition of new cells to the SC.
