ROVI Cosmetics Launches Dermoprotectyl® Cellular Active for Sun Care Applications
Dermoprotectyl® Cellular Active Offers Dual Action Sun Protection
SCHLÜCHTEM, GERMANY. (April 13, 2012) – ROVI Cosmetics, an Air Products company, will launch its new Dermoprotectyl® cellular active at In-Cosmetics 2012 in Barcelona, Spain for the European marketplace. Dermoprotectyl® cellular active is an innovative sun protection active that provides both a first line of protection through UV filters affixed to the skin surface and a second line of defense through antioxidants delivered deep into the skin.
Prolonged sun exposure is well-known as a culprit in the formation of free radicals, which can lead to changes in skin cell’s DNA, collagen and elastin tissue, and pigmentation. Sunscreens offer some protection by blocking UV rays but may neglect to counter the effects of visible and infrared sunlight that can also generate free radicals. Conventional sunscreens can also raise concerns related to absorption of sunscreen filters into the skin.
Dermoprotectyl cellular active meets these challenges by providing a dual-action technology that maintains UV filters affixed to the skin surface while delivering antioxidants deep into the skin where they can counteract free radicals. The material has been shown to provide a high degree of free radical protection as well as to retain UV protection across multiple water immersions better than conventional UV filters.
“Effective sun protection is increasingly being acknowledged as playing an important role from a beauty as well as healthcare perspective, and our new Dermoprotectcyl cellular active can help consumers achieve a comprehensive and effective level of protection” said Solomon Lemma, Global Business Manager for Personal Care.
Dermoprotectyl cellular active is the latest ingredient under ROVI’s Cellular Actives™ product family, which utilizes advanced and multifaced delivery technologies to address defined and consumer-desired performance attributes. Other solutions under the product family include Aquafill™ for wrinkle reduction, Epiprotectyl® UV for protecting hair against sun damage, Herbapurifine™ for skin purification , ProContour™ for cellulite reduction, Unitone™ for skin depigmentation, and Vivendin™ for skin cell longevity .
